Street Cleaning Schedule & Alerts

Street Cleaning starts April 1 and runs through the fourth week of November. During street cleaning days, vehicles cannot park on a specific side of the street in order to accommodate the street cleaner.

The majority of the 1st Ward has permanent street cleaning signs. The permanent signs advise residents of the day of the week and the time restrictions for no parking on street cleaning days. The areas of the ward that do not have permanent signs will be notified of street cleaning by orange temporary signs. The orange temporary signs will be posted a day before the street will be cleaned.

When cars are parked on the street during this service some areas cannot be swept. Or in some cases, a small section of your block may need some special attention. Please feel free to contact our office or the 1st Ward Streets and Sanitation office directly at (312) 742-4119 to request a special street cleaning service.

Street Cleaning Text Alerts

Alderman Moreno launched the first of its kind, Street Sweeping Text/Email Alert system, just days after he was inaugurated. He pays for this service, so it is free for all 1st Ward residents.

You will receive a reminder to move your car, the night before and the morning of your scheduled sweep. This will help residents avoid tickets and will also mean that 1st Ward streets are better cleaned.
