Flu Vaccine Clinic

Oct 09, 2018

Every year I host the Department of Public Health, who provides flu vaccines free of charge.  This year they will be at my office on Wednesday, October 10th from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Children and senior citizens are especially vulnerable and suffer stronger reactions.  It is also recommended that adults who work with seniors and children be vaccinated to protect spread of the virus to these vulnerable populations.  I hope to see you at my office!

It’s finally here! My Annual Back-to-School Fair is this Saturday. Last year, parents and children were able to walk away with almost 1,000 backpacks and just as many smiles, if not more. This year there has been a change in venue. Bring your child or children to Haas Park, 2402 N. Washtenaw Ave., on Saturday, August 18th. With all the giveaways, services, and games, I promise they will walk away ready and excited for the 1st day of school.

CPD Consent Decree

Aug 07, 2018

Last week, the Offices of Mayor Emanuel and Illinois Attorney General Madigan released the Chicago Police Department consent decree, http://chicagopoliceconsentdecree.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Illinois-v.-Chicago-Consent-Decree-Draft-for-Public-Review-2018-7-27.pdf. It follows reforms and oversight measures for the CPD that include a new Deputy Inspector General for Public Safety, Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) and the Community Oversight Board still under development.

At the moment, it is open for review by any organization or individual. Comments and suggestions are being accepted, http://chicagopoliceconsentdecree.org/consent-decree-and-input, until August 17, 2018.

While I value your opinions, the Mayor’s Office and the Office of the Ill Attorney General want your input directly. Please contact them at the website provided above.
